Zion Vacation

Use our hotel as your base camp during your southern Utah vacation exploring Zion National Park

Easily the most popular vacation spot in southern Utah, Zion National Park attracts approximately 2.5 million visitors every year. Named for an ancient Hebrew word meaning “place of refuge” or “sanctuary” by early settlers, Zion’s 229 square miles preserves some of the most stunning scenery in the United States. Sometimes called the “Yosemite of the Desert,” Zion’s signature attractions are its enormous rock monoliths. Zion Canyon, the park’s most visited area, is home to the most popular of these natural landmarks, including The Great White Throne, Court of the Patriarchs and Angels Landing. Adventurous visitors will enjoy the canyon’s strenuous climb to Observation Point. Those seeking easier hiking trails will delight in paths such as Emerald Pools, Riverside Walk, and Weeping Rock. A Zion National Park vacation relaxes and renews the entire family!

From April to October, the only way visitors can access the 6.5-mile Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is via a free shuttle system. Stopping at major trailheads and points of interest along the way, a ride on the Zion Canyon Shuttle is an introduction to the canyon’s geology, history, flora and fauna through shuttle driver narration. The bus windows provide superb views of the canyon’s towering sandstone formations and the life-giving Virgin River, which is home to the Virgin spinedace, a species of fish found nowhere else in the world. A Zion National Park vacation is not complete without a ride through the 1.1-mile Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel, built in the late 1920s. Many consider it an engineering feat to this day.
